It’s easy to dismiss the US Southwest National Parks as just a bunch of similar looking rocks, but they each have a really different feel to them. Bryce is peaceful and alien, Zion is lush and wet, Canyonlands is staggeringly massive, Capitol Reef feels like a weird little oasis (the Mormons planted fruit orchards there a long time ago so you can camp among blooming cherry trees!), Arches feels extraterrestrial, and the Grand Canyon is… I dunno, nothing needs to be said for it. I went in late March (a pretty atypical time; it may be the desert but we woke up with snow on our tents in Bryce due to the elevation and time of year!) of 2016 and I highly recommend it if you get the chance.
